I prefer paintings with lots of brush strokes, as opposed to the photorealistic ones. It defeats the purpose of the painting.

I totally agree with you. Otherwise, what's the point. take a photo, become a photographer.
If you just want to show people how good you are, create a painting using the styles of a renaissance artist. At the very least you knew they were paintings no matter how good they were.

I love that you've chose to paint natural facial expressions, not just smiling faces. It makes each painting something really worth looking at.  So many different emotions make up a person. These paintings are "living" not posing for our view. Wonderful work. :)
